Apa Itu Recount Text?

Seperti yang sudah Minco spill di atas, recount text adalah teks yang menceritakan kembali suatu kejadian atau peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lalu. Contohnya seperti pengalaman liburan, lomba, ulang tahun, menonton konser, dan sebagainya. Biasanya yang ditulis dalam recount text ini yang sudah terjadi beberapa minggu, bulan, atau tahun yang lalu.

Tujuan dari recount text sendiri yaitu untuk menginformasikan, memotivasi, dan menghibur pembaca atau pendengarnya mengenai suatu kejadian atau peristiwa tertentu. Dilihat dari tujuannya, tentu teks ini lebih bersifat informal, Teman KOCO.

Struktur Recount Text

Sama halnya dengan teks lain, recount text juga mempunyai struktur penulisan yang perlu kamu pahami. Berikut adalah struktur dari recount text yaitu:

Orientation

Pada bagian ini berisi latar belakang dari suatu kejadian atau peristiwa, termasuk siapa yang terlibat, kapan atau dimana kejadian tersebut terjadi. Dengan kamu menuliskan hal tersebut di awal cerita, maka para pembaca pun akan dengan mudah memahami jalan cerita.

Series of Event

Sesuai dengan artinya, struktur yang kedua ini merupakan rangkaian kejadian dari suatu cerita. Selain itu, biasanya pada bagian series of event penulis akan menceritakan keseluruhan peristiwa yang dialaminya secara runtut. Misalnya, kamu ingin menceritakan tentang pertandingan basket yang kamu ikuti kemarin, maka pada bagian ini kamu akan menjelaskan mulai dari awal persiapan pertandingan hingga pertandingan berakhir atau pengumuman pemenang.

Reorientation

Bagian terakhir dari recount text yaitu reorientation atau bisa disebut sebagai penutup teks. Pada bagian ini, penulis akan menuliskan kesimpulan atau rangkuman dari keseluruhan cerita, sekaligus dengan ending ceritanya (happy/sad ending). Tidak hanya itu saja, terkadang penulis pun juga bisa menambahkan kesan dan pesan untuk para pembacanya.

Ciri-ciri Recount Text

Agar kamu bisa membedakan recount text dengan teks lainnya, apalagi jika strukturnya hampir sama, maka kamu harus memahami ciri-ciri teksnya, di antaranya yaitu:

• Hanya berisi cerita singkat tentang pengalaman saja, tidak ada konflik yang dibuat oleh penulis.
• Selalu ada urutan cerita, misalnya seperti pada hari pertama, hari kedua, dan seterusnya.
• Menggunakan kalimat past tense atau lampau (Verb 3: went, woke up, ate, etc).
• Mengandung part of speech adverb untuk menjelaskan waktu, tempat, atau cara dalam kejadian. Misalnya, last january, Jakarta, at the stadium, atau on the second day.
• Terdapat part of speech conjunction dan time connectivies untuk mengurutkan kejadian dalam cerita agar lebih jelas. Contohnya and, after, the, that, before, dan sebagainya.

Jenis Recount Text

Perlu kamu ketahui bahwa recount text mempunyai beberapa jenis yang bisa kamu gunakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan kamu, lho. Apa saja Minco? Yuk, simak penjelasannya di bawah ini!

Personal recount

Jenis pertama yaitu personal recount yang bisa kamu gunakan untuk menceritakan pengalaman pribadi kamu sendiri. Entah itu cerita tentang liburan semester kemarin, kegiatan volunteer yang kamu ikuti, pertandingan olahraga, dan lain sebagainya. Personal recount ini bisa dibilang jenis yang paling banyak digunakan untuk menulis recount text. Contoh teksnya adalah sebagai berikut:

My Bad Day

Doni scrimped and paid for a trip around the world that lasted two months. In his diary, he detailed his journey. I travelled to London and spent several weeks in Europe after spending a week in New York. I took a train to Istanbul and visited several locations in Asia after seeing the sights in Europe. First, I flew from Mexico City to New York City, where he lives. After travelling across Asia, I travelled to South America before returning to Indonesia. Doni was weary, but he was ecstatic to be on the road again.

Factual recount

Jenis recount text selanjutnya yaitu factual recount yang berisi laporan tentang peristiwa terjadi berdasarkan fakta yang ada di lapangan (benar-benar terjadi). Jadi, pada jenis ini kamu lebih menceritakan kisah orang lain di dalam teks, misalnya seperti laporan mengenai percobaan sains, laporan kepolisian, dan lain sebagainya. Berikut contoh factual recount text:

Man Charged with Pushing Old Woman Down Bus

SINGAPORE – The man who pushed an old woman down a bus along Upper Thomson Road has been charged in court.

Twenty-five-year-old Ong Kok Hao is accused of hurting 76-year-old Hwang Li Lian Nee Lye on bus service number 167 at about 3pm on June 5 this year.

Ong is said to have used his right hand to push the old woman on her back, causing her to fall on the steps of the bus.

The incident was captured in a two-minute video and uploaded on YouTube. The video shows Ong suddenly flying into a rage at Madam Hwang for pressing the bell at the last-minute along Upper Thomson Road.

A shouting match then ensued and during the heated spat, Ong threatened to slap the woman, before pushing her down the bus.

Ong’s lawyer Eddie Koh will be making representations to the court. The case will next be mentioned in December.

Imaginative recount

Sesuai namanya, recount text jenis ini seringkali digunakan untuk menceritakan peristiwa imajinatif yang dialami seseorang. Teman KOCO pasti pernah bermimpi kan? Nah, kamu bisa menceritakan kembali cerita dalam mimpi kamu itu ke dalam recount text, lho. Berikut adalah contohnya:

I dreamed of being a superhero when I was a teenager. I imagined myself as Spiderman. 

One day, when I was fishing at the river I was bitten by a spider and luckily I was not dying. At first I felt cold for 24 hours and I was alone in my room. Nobody knew about it. I didn’t tell my family because I was afraid they would be angry with me. After that, something had happened in my body and I still did not recognize it. I lived as I did usually, went to school, went home, ate, did some activities and so on. 

I realized at the first time that I had a superpower was when I was in an accident. I rode a motorcycle and suddenly a bus crashed into me. I bounced out of the road and my motorcycle was totally broken. But in that case, I did not feel any pain. There was no blood out of my body. I was angry at that time because the bus did not stop and escaped. I ran after it and I didn’t know why I could run so fast and jump so high.

I jumped to the back of the bus and climbed it like a spider. I went to the front, stopped the bus and took the driver out of the bus door. I knew that I was no longer a normal human being. I did nothing more to the bus driver. I went back home and decided what to do after that.

I did nothing like Spiderman in the movie that helped people to catch the criminals. I was an opportunist super hero. I was afraid of killing people so that I hid my power from anybody else. I used my power only when I or my family and friends got into danger. 

Historical Recount

Jenis recount text yang terakhir yaitu historical recount yang isi teksnya menceritakan peristiwa sejarah. Misalnya tentang proklamasi kemerdekaan Indonesia, kerajaan Majapahit, masa penjajahan Belanda di Indonesia, dan sebagainya. Contoh teksnya seperti:

Bandung as Sea of Fire

Bandung as Sea of Fire was a fire that occurred in the city of Bandung on March 24, 1946. Within seven hours, about 200,000 residents of Bandung burned their homes.

British troops as part of the Brigade MacDonald arrived in Bandung on October 12, 1945. Bandung was deliberately burned by TRI and local people. There were black smoke billowing high into the air everywhere. The British Army began to attack so fierce. The greatest battle happened in the Village name Dayeuh Kolot, in South Bandung, where there were a large ammunition depot belonging to British. In this battle, Barisan Rakyat Indonesia  destroyed the ammunition depot.

The strategy to fire Bandung was considered because the power of TRI and people’s militia was not comparable to the British forces and NICA. This incident inspired to create the famous song “Halo, Halo Bandung”.

Kaidah Kebahasaan Recount Text

Sebelum kamu membuat recount text, ada beberapa kaidah kebahasaan yang harus kamu perhatikan sehingga bisa menghasilkan teks yang baik dan mudah dipahami oleh pembaca, yaitu:

Simple past tense

Masih ingat kan dengan bentuk tense ini? Kalau kamu lupa pelajari di sini dulu ya! Nah, dalam recount text sebagian besar ceritanya pasti menggunakan kalimat simple past tense. Sebab. teks ini menceritakan kejadian atau peristiwa yang sudah pernah terjadi. Pola kalimatnya sendiri pun terbagi menjadi dua, yaitu:

– Subject + verb 2 + complement

Contoh kalimat: Last week, my sister and I went to California (Minggu lalu, aku dan kakaku pergi ke California)

– Subject + be (was/were) + complement

Contoh kalimat: I was a singer in 2000 (Aku adalah seorang penyanyi pada tahun 2000)

Specific & personal participant

Dalam recount text, kamu harus menggunakan specific participant atau sesuatu yang mempunyai objek tertentu, bersifat khusus, dan unik. Misalnya seperti Ngurah Rai Airport, Istiqlal Mosque, Muara Angke, dan sebagainya. Selain itu, kamu juga bisa menggunakan personal participant yang seperti I, my team, my family. my friends, dan sebagainya. Biasanya untuk personal participant akan muncul di awal cerita.

Contoh kalimat:

– Specific participant: First, we visited Bromo mountain. (Pertama, kami mengunjungi gunung Bromo.)

– Personal participant: Last month, I went to Samosir Island with my group (Bulan kemarin, aku pergi ke pulau Samosir bersama dengan kelompokku)

Adverb of Time & Adverb of Sequence

Kaidah kebahasaan (languange features) dari recount text yaitu menggunakan kata keterangan waktu (time) dan urutan (sequence). Dengan adanya ini, maka cerita kamu akan lebih jelas, spesifik, dan dipahami oleh pembaca. Berikut contoh dari kedua adverb ini:

– Adverb of time : Yesterday, last week, last month, an hour ago, a year ago

– Adverb of sequence: First, then, after that, at last, finally

“Bandung Trip”

Last holiday, exactly two months ago, I went to Bandung with my best friend, Anna. We decided to have a trip there for three days long. Luckily, I and Anna had the same interest in places that we would like to visit. That made the trip easier and more fun!

We didn’t have any plans on the first day because we arrived at 5 p.m. by bus. At that moment, we were tired and decided to have some rest in our hotel. Woke up in the middle of the night, we realized we had missed dinner. But, Anna suggested ordering food online and watching horror series together instead.

The next day, we rented a motorbike. After that, we visited a beautiful place named Punclut. It was a little far from our hotel. But trust me, we were astonished the first second we got there! The view was amazing and we couldn’t handle taking many pictures. As time went by, it was getting colder so we had to warm ourselves by drinking chamomile tea.

We had dinner at a seafood restaurant. Anna ate a bowl of fish soup while I enjoyed my grilled salmon and green mussels. The taste was fantastic yet we knew that we were satisfyingly full. On our way back to the hotel, we bought some traditional snacks from Bandung to accompany us while binge-watching good movies.

Our last day came that fast. We packed our things in the very morning and took the last trip to Farm House. After taking pictures, we moved to another place where we bought more traditional snacks and souvenirs for our family members back home. At approximately 5 p.m., we returned the motorbike and went home by bus.

Since we arrived at 12 p.m., Anna decided to sleepover at my house. We still talked about our fun times in Bandung and shared pictures. We really wanted to go there next time. Bandung was amazing after all!
